Sazón Site for Culinary Professional Classes on Mexican Cuisine
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico -- Sazón, Orient-Express’s new cooking school and retail store located in the Mexican colonial town of San Miguel de Allende will be the host site for Marilyn Tausend’s Culinary Adventures trip for chefs and industry professionals to Mexico on January 11 – 18, 2007.
Tausend is considered one of the leading experts in Mexican cuisine. She has authored several books including, “Mexico the Beautiful,” “Cocina de la Familia,” “Savoring Mexico,” “Mexican” (Williams Sonoma), and most recently “Bite by Bite, Experiencing Mexico's Culinary Pleasures” for Fodor's 2007 guidebook. In addition to her writing, she has consulted on numerous television programs including Food Network’s Too Hot Tamales. Tausend first began offering culinary adventure trips to Mexico in 1987. In addition to trips offered through her company, Culinary Adventures, she also coordinates trips on behalf of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Greystone, and the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP).
The Intensive Mexican Cooking program in San Miguel in January is open to chefs and others involved in professional preparation of food who want to learn more about the dishes, ingredients and techniques of Mexico’s regional foods. Participants will stay at Casa de Sierra Nevada hotel located only blocks from the school. These intensive classes will be lead by award-winning Mexican chefs Roberto Santibañez, culinary director of Rosa Mexicano restauarants in New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Ricardo Muñoz, one of Mexico’s top chefs and cookbook writer of regional Mexican foods, along with several local food professionals.
