SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, MEXICO (April 16, 2008) – Casa de Sierra Nevada’s esteemed restaurant, Andanza, won the American Academy of Hospitality Science’s International Five Star Diamond Award last week in Mexico City.
The American Academy of Hospitality Science (AAHS) is renowned worldwide for awarding excellence in the global travel and luxury services sector. The Five Star Diamond Award is the most prestigious emblem of achievement and true quality in the hospitality industry today, and is the only award program that recognizes excellence on a global level.
Fifty of the best restaurants were selected from throughout Mexico as recipients for this year’s awards. The Academy began to award restaurants in Mexico in 1998. The Academy’s International Board of Trustees, made up of respected leaders in the industry, bestows this honor on Five Star establishments that are deemed to be of pinnacle quality.
Andanza opened its doors in September 2007. Executive Chef Gonzalo Martinez Cardenas and team have developed a menu of signature Mexican cuisine infused with modern flair, creativity and passion. Andanza is located in Casa de Sierra Nevada’s Casa Principal, the former residence of San Miguel de Allende’s Archbishop in the 1580s and an official historical landmark.
