San Miguel's taxis are not metered and we recommend agreeing on a price before travelling. The hotel can arrange taxis and transfers.

RENT A CAR

San Miguel is accessible by road, and there are many beautiful places to visit in the nearby area. Renting a car is a comfortable way to enjoy this region, giving you the freedom and flexibility to see more.

TIPPING

As a guideline, tips are normally around 10-15% depending on the service.

CURRENCY

Banks generally have the best exchange rates and are open from 8:30 or 9:00am. In addition there are private money exchanges or "casas de cambio". Some banks may have 24-hour ATMs that allow you to take cash advances on your credit and debit cards paid in pesos.

Many large establishments accept US dollars, but it is advised to carry small bills as change is not always readily available.

CREDIT CARDS

Most hotels, resorts and larger restaurants and shops will accept credit cards. Smaller establishments may not be able to accept credit cards, so it is advised to have access to cash or traveler’s checks.

OPENING HOURS

Most businesses in San Miguel will be open during the day. However the custom of the mid-day family lunch is still in practice, so some establishments may close briefly in the afternoons.
